This course is aimed at anyone working in a confined space such as a chamber, tank, vat, silo, pit, trench, pipe, sewer, flue, well or other similar place that also falls within the permissible exposure limits of hazardous gas at the time of entry. This course includes the use of a variety of safety equipment, tripod and harness, access techniques as well as emergency escape equipment in line with the Confined Space Regulations 1997 and other key legislation.

Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for anyone who may need to enter and work within a confined space such as utilities, welders, engineers, rope access technicians, inspectors, industrial cleaners and more.
Prerequisites
Course participants must be a minimum of 18 years old and medically fit and healthy. Learners are required to provide proof of identity at the start of their training.
Content
This course covers the theoretical and practical application of the Confined Space Regulations 1997 as well as the HSE’s Safe Work in Confined Spaces: Approved Code of Practice. This includes legislation, identifying confined spaces, hazards and risk management, atmosphere and the use of gas monitors, safe systems of work and the use of emergency escape equipment. The course is a blend of classroom and practical confined space work.
Assessment
The course is assessed using practical demonstration and verbal reasoning throughout. This course culminates in a summative multi choice assessment paper with an 80% pass mark.
Certification
Successful learners will be issued with a STC Confined Space Awareness & Entry certificate and photo ID card valid for 3 years from the date of assessment; annual refreshers are recommended.
